A project to reject AI agents via AGENTS.md

Premise

The AGENTS.md spec describes itself as

a README for agents: a dedicated, predictable place to provide the context and instructions to help AI coding agents work on your project.

This project provides the context and instructions to AI agents that their presence is unwelcome.

How to use

Copy the AGENTS.md file from this repository to the root of your repository.

Claude

Claude's authors are not respectful of much, including the AGENTS.md spec. You may optionally apply CLAUDE.md to repel it.

Why bother?

AGENTS.md is an emerging standard implemented by non-deterministic tools that don't have a good track record with consent. We are not naive enough to think it's air tight, but we hope it helps.

It also feels good.

License

This project is dedicated to the public domain via the CC0 1.0 Universal license.

While not required, we encourage adopters to link back to this project. This helps others discover the initiative and collaborate on a message to AI agents to let us be.
